What are some reasons to enforce international law?

I need reasons for a law essay due tomorrow, thanks a lot!!

1. Why have international law if you are not going to enforce it?

2. Laws in general benefit everyone involved. If two ships meet on the high seas, international law dictates how they pass each other. Without the law, neither ship captain would have a clue as to what the other guy is going to do. But with the law, they can assume they will pass to the right (Right of way) unless one or the other signals that they are going to do something different.

3. It promotes trade. International Copyright laws encourage two nations to trade with each other knowing that the other nation does not encourage copyright infringement.

4. And if IRAN continues to violate international law and the the NNPT, it is going to get some major badness as the other nations move to enforce it…
